About this event
In panel one, our speakers - Diana Hamade (UAE), Byron James (UAE), Charles Hale KC and Glenda Vencatachellum - will discuss financial disputes and the evolving landscape of resolving family financial disputes in the UAE and UK. They will cover essential topics such as mediation, arbitration, and the newly introduced expat court process in Abu Dhabi, highlighting enforceability challenges and pitfalls.
After a brief refreshments break, panel two will focus on international child disputes, including relocation, abduction, and the rising awareness of domestic violence. Our expert speakers - Barbara Mills KC, Ruth Kirby KC, Niamh Wilkie, Maria Scotland and Madeline Mendy (UAE) - will explore recent legal decisions impacting the return of children to the UAE and relocation. The panel will discuss the role of mediation and arbitration in these sensitive cases. This panel will also have a comparative discussion on the increased understanding of domestic violence legislation (including economic abuse) in both jurisdictions and how it now factors in family dispute resolution.
The panel discussion will be followed by a network reception.
