The Bar Council, with the assistance of its Legal Services Committee, Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel and IT Panel, engages in a wide area to seek to increase access to justice, as well as helping to make the operational work of a barrister better. This includes topics such as:

• Engaging with HMCTS on their court modernisation programme, such as the digitisation of legal services and the move towards online courts, including reform projects such as flexible operating hours and video hearings;
• The introduction of new facilities to manage and handle caseloads, which encompasses judicial functions of court staff; and
• Liaising with the Rules Committees and various outside stakeholders to ensure that the interests of the Bar are considered when formulating and enacting new policy.
